If you look to the left of my hip you'll see a few rogue red tulips absolutely living their best lives amongst the white ones.

I'm going to take this opportunity to make a point about how tulips spend a whole bloody year manifesting their best selves, taking in all those nutrients and nurturing their growth, sprouting slowly but surely, finally coming into full bloom when they've got everything they need. All we see is the final product. The breathtaking, beautiful culmination of all that hard work. Do you see where I'm heading with this? Stop comparing yourselves to anyone who's been nurturing, growing, and sprouting for longer than you have. All in our own time.

One day I may just take my own advice.

ALPACA ATTACKA! Jk, these guys were the fluffiest

ALPACA ATTACKA!

Jk, these guys were the fluffiest, chillest beings I've ever met (apart from when the 🥕 carrots 🥕 came out, which is what's happening in this photo).

Guys, I've lived 5 minutes away from a freakin' alpaca boerderij for 3 and a half years already and I had no idea! Whaaaat?! Well, we've rectified it, and I'm happy, because alpacas are actually super cool.

Did you know:

🦙 alpacas are super timid - if you're scared, they're scared
🦙 when they roll over, they toot something rotten 🤭
🦙 they're pregnant for up to 11 1/2 months and they give birth ON THEIR OWN TERMS!! Like what? Yeah, they wait for a warm sunny day so the sun can help dry off their new bundle of floof 🥺
🦙 alpacas don't live in the wild - they're domesticated (unlike llamas - which is their main difference)

🌷 For some reason, clapping my eyes on a big ol

🌷 For some reason, clapping my eyes on a big old field of tulips turns me into an emotional, screeching mess. Honestly, I don't know how or why, these tulips just fill me with so much joy.

Could it be their uniformity, growing in droves in neatly kept lines? Or the colours? Or just the fact that they're so bloody beautiful? I dunno.

I always thought that Friesland was just for cows 🐄 & that the tulips were only cultivated down south. Well, we found like 6 fields just like this 20 minutes from home, so clearly, I've been missing out! And what a joyous moment it was (for me... I scared poor R half to death by screaming TULIPS out of nowhere, and I got a well deserved "Godver!!!" for my efforts).

I know you've seen your feeds flooded with tulips lately, but please allow me to add a few photos to that mix, because they'll be gone soon 🥲

Californian donuts in Deventer? Apparently? The list of donut flavours at @dailydonutdeventer was wild:
🍩 vanilla glazed
🍩 chocolate
🍩 strawberry rainbow
🍩 blueberry
🍩 lemon merangue
🍩 marshmallow
🍩 mango coconut
🍩 maple bacon
🍩 oreo
🍩 white chocolate caramel
🍩 lemon cheesecake
🍩 smarties
🍩 cinammon
🍩 boston cream
🍩 cafe au lait
And of course
🍩 tompouce...

We went for tompouce and maple bacon, and they were *chef's kiss*, although I couldn't finish the tompouce one by myself (not something i say very often you know 😛). Looking back on that list though, there are a few I wouldn't have minded trying out... what's your choice??

This giant piece of architectural beauty is De Waa

This giant piece of architectural beauty is De Waag - the old weighing house from 1531, and it sits slap bang in the centre of the town square.

Coo-ee can you see me heh heh. My tiny head was trying to pose with the stone lion on the banister but yeah, the whole building just engulfs me so it's hard to see my cheesy grin. Probably for the best eh.

At the weekend, the market stalls are set out in front of the building (swipe left? Or right? I literally don't know... left... ???? Crikey I'd be bad at Tinder). I don't know about you but I'd love to have my mini florist stall outside De Waag 🤩🌷

De Walstraat is Deventer's oldest street lined with shops of every description. Antiques, sjokolaa (can you guess what that one sells?), EVEN AN ENGLISH TEA ROOM. I know. They sold crumpets. But they weren't open...

The white line is supposedly meant to keep people walking on the 'correct side of the road' but as you can see, not everyone got the memo 😂
