Rhodes 2019 &#8211; Pefkos town"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Pefkos is a small town just south of <a href=\"https:\/\/nether-netherland.com\/2019\/10\/04\/tip-time-rhodes-2019-lindos-town\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\"Lindos (opens in a new tab)\">Lindos<\/a> on the island of Rhodes. So, another mere hop, skip and jump from where we were staying.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Now, we found Pefkos by accident really. Or, more honestly,\nbecause I cannot really read Google Maps too well.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It all started one morning when we decided to visit \u2018The Tip\u2019. That\u2019s our own name for it. It\u2019s not really called The Tip. I\u2019m actually referring to Prasonisi, the southernmost point of Rhodes. Which, by the way, is over an hour\u2019s drive away from Pefkos. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"384\" height=\"512\" src=\"https:\/\/nether-netherland.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/10\/pefkos15.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-336\" srcset=\"https:\/\/nether-netherland.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/10\/pefkos15.jpg 384w, https:\/\/nether-netherland.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/10\/pefkos15-225x300.jpg 225w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 384px) 100vw, 384px\" \/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>You can imagine the strained conversation we had when we\nreached \u2018The Tip\u2019 after a mere 10 minute drive\u2026<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Anyway\u2026 finding Pefkos was really a little bit of a magical\nmistake. Well, it was empty for one, apart from a diving school\nwhich took a small group of divers into the depths every Monday, Wednesday and\nFriday. We literally had the place to ourselves, which for us tourist haters,\nwas perfect.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Our second reason for visiting was the crystal clear waters.\nFor me: Mrs I\u2019m Scared Of Fish, it was perfect. I could watch the water from my\nlittle viewpoint above, as well as paddle and wade my way over rocks in the\nwater itself. It was shallow enough for me to not be too scared of any shadows\nthat just happened to lie in front of me, but deep enough for R to have a whale\nof a time snorkelling and hunting for said shadows. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Fokia is actually situated in it\u2019s own little bay. It\u2019s cut\noff from the rest of the town, and a little out in the sticks, which is why we\nfound very few people. It\u2019s also on the edge of a military zone, which was a\nlittle off-putting when we first found it. We spoke a few times with the diving\ninstructors though, who put us at ease. We were safe on the beach!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Eating_out_in_Pefkos\"><\/span><strong>Eating out\nin Pefkos<\/strong><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>As I said, our dip into Pefkos was purely accidental, so we\nweren\u2019t expecting to visit at all. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>As a town, it\u2019s mostly a bunch of resorts and a main\nshop\/restaurant street. Yes, I\u2019m\nsorry, I\u2019m not really an \u2018I\u2019ll-only-be-eating-the-local-food\u2019 kind of girl.\nNow, don\u2019t get me wrong, I will be eating the local cuisine\u2026 just not every\nnight.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We had the most delicious steak and lamb shank ever, followed by the most indulgent Banoffee pies I\u2019ve ever seen. Spoiler\nalert, it wasn\u2019t our last night. I am a terrible map reader, and a terrible\u2026\ndate knower? However, it wasn\u2019t just me who thought it was our last night so I\nam not being held fully responsible for that, thank you.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Kritamo sits overlooking the sea, and if you get there at sundown, the views will be spectacular. It was pretty romantic. Oh, and they have cats, so if you\u2019re a cat lover like I am, you\u2019re going to have the best time.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"384\" height=\"512\" src=\"https:\/\/nether-netherland.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/10\/pefkos5.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-347\" srcset=\"https:\/\/nether-netherland.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/10\/pefkos5.jpg 384w, https:\/\/nether-netherland.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/10\/pefkos5-225x300.jpg 225w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 384px) 100vw, 384px\" \/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>Now, I won\u2019t lie, I had to Google a lot of the food on the menu. It was quite a busy area, but busy as in \u2013 there are plenty of\nhotels and apartments in the area.
